"Cool" Isn't Just a Size

March 24, 2020

Throughout history, the standard beauty and body norms have continued to change. If you looked at the Ancient Greek era, the Italian Renaissance, and even Old Hollywood, fuller-bodied women were considered beautiful. On the other hand, if you looked at Ancient Egypt, the Han Dynasty and the Roaring 20’s, slimmer bodies were preferred. In other words, our standard of beauty continues to morph and change, making it almost impossible for the modern woman to attain pure “beauty”. So how do we find that outer beauty that we all desire? The answer is simple. We find it in ourselves.

“Cool” isn’t a size. “Beauty” isn’t a size. Nor is it a shape, color or age. We attain this goal of self-confidence by finding love for ourselves, no matter what we look like. There’s a reason the standard of beauty keeps changing. We’re each made differently and how our body grows and defines itself will be different than the person standing next to us. That doesn’t mean one person is better than the other. We as women need to support each other and stand with each other, instead of tearing each other down. Own yourself and own your body. Rock that swimsuit, crop top or bodysuit. Show off those awesome      arms that do so much wonderful work each day. We are all wonder women and we need to let ourselves shine in that spotlight.

In every era and new century, the standard for beauty continues to change. This means that in every time period to date, there have been women who feel less than. There have always been women who checked their cellulite in the mirror, wished their boobs or butt were bigger or wanted a slimmer waist. Perhaps they wanted their eyes to be bigger or their winkles to fade away. Some wanted less body hair and some wanted more. How can anyone keep up with these kinds of expectations? Let us be the first generation to break these molds. Let our standard of beauty be so revolutionary that no woman feels they don’t belong next to the words “beautiful” and “cool”.
